Good Bye 2011

I am one of those people that gets very thoughtful when it comes to Christmas and New Years…. I mean it comes by so fast and to think that this year is almost over! Where has life gone???

When I look back at the past years I always look at what I could of done different. How I could of acted better or how I could of done things different. And what will this next year hold? I am so grateful for what I have accomplished in 2011.

And to think I didn’t even have this blog or website one year ago….

A year ago I was not happy at all with my photos. I knew I wanted a different style and they just weren’t close to what I wanted my style to be. Now I feel like I know how to create the look I want. I’m learning how to bring my clients out and into their comfort zones with each other so that I can capture exactly who they are. Which that in itself is exactly my goal!

I can’t thank you all enough for using me and bringing me closer to my goals. Its so cool looking back on this year and remembering what each session taught me. Or how each session brought me that much closer to the goals I want to get to.

And because today is the very last day of 2011 I am posting another preview of Shem+Noel

I don’t even know how to begin this blog post… I mean when I look at where I was a year ago and where I am now. I’m blown away. A year ago I would stress to no end over every little shoot. When it came to weddings I knew what I would want to capture or how I would want to make photos not stressful for a wedding couple. But I wasn’t quite sure how to do that. Now as I look at where I am at now… I am not by any means close to where I want to be. But I’m sure glad I am where I am at now and not a year ago:P

Each one of these images hold memories and goals accomplished for me. Even if it was just feeling like the couple were truly themselves around me and I didn’t know them at all. Or me and my mom getting a newborn into a new pose… Its still a special thing for me!

I really can’t describe what it feels like for me to be able to capture special moments in each of these lives. And the fact that people actually trust me to do it for them just amazes me. Thank you to each and every one of you for using me this year. Thank you so much for such a great 2011 and here is to a great 2012!!!

Canvas Contest Winners

Oh my goodness…. that is all I can say when it comes to how amazing this contest turned out. To be honest I was a little worried that not everyone would really go for it and get people to vote. Like I would only end up having 15 votes for the winner. LOL Which for sure was not the case one bit.

I can’t believe how close this has been through out this week. It for sure was the top three that kept bouncing back and forth from 3rd to 1st to 2nd to whatever! Its been so much fun watching all these emails come in and see what they have to say about each photo and person.  We had a total of 1,872 votes!!!!!!! That just blows me away and thank you all.

Well…. because of how close this is I made sure that I triple checked all the numbers. And I made sure to count all the votes in all the places. I even had my mom help me just to make sure I was adding and counting everything right. And I checked to make sure there wasn’t any double voting. So if the FB votes don’t add up to what is being seen on FB its because I got their vote counted either in a email or blog comment. But there has to be a winner and so here the three winners are…

 

With a total of 167 emails and 202 votes on FB, with a total of 369 votes-1st place goes to Brea&Brian!!!! You guys get a 16×20 Canvas of this image.

 

With a total of 76 emails and 291 FB votes, with a total of 367 votes-2nd place goes to Kody&Kaden!!! They get a 11×14 Canvas of this image.

 

With 4 emails and 352 FB votes, with a total of  356 votes-3rd place goes to Braylon!!!! They get a 8×10 Canvas of this image.

 

Congrats to the winners and really if I could I would give everyone a Canvas! You all have been so amazing to work with and I can’t thank all of you enough.

Hadyn Lane-Newborn

I had the amazing pleasure of taking Hadyn’s parents wedding photos last April. I can’t say it enough when I say I am so blessed to be able to capture these special moments in peoples lives. From their wedding to maternity to newborn and family photos. Its so neat to see them grow and its literally like being with family and good friends each time I get to see them.

Isn’t she a doll? I loved being able to capture this sweet girls personality. Even though she was a little older then we normally do…. She was a sleepy girl.

Same Day Slideshow

Ever since I have heard of something that is called a same day slideshow I have wanted to do it. I kept putting it off and putting it off because I didn’t know exactly when I would be able to fit it in on a wedding day.

A same day slideshow is where right before the reception (usually before the bride and groom or even the guests get to the reception) you really lightly edit 10-15 images from the day. Then you set your laptop on a small table by the line for either cake or food and let everyone see a small sneak peak from the day.

So I just kept putting it off… I knew how great it could be for my business but was a little scared to start doing it. I mean you have to remember what pictures each memory card holds and then quickly pick some and edit super fast. Well I decided back in October that I WAS going to do it. Even if it didn’t get any new clients or bring any new brides in. I was going to do it. I had planned it all out except the table but the church ended up having one. It went super well. I don’t think I placed the laptop in the greatest place but hey it was my first time.

When you think about it its a great idea to have a same day slideshow. I mean come on… you have about 400 people that are there to see the bride and groom. They are there for them but really have no idea what you as a photographer can do. But if you bring out your laptop and place a couple business cards there. They can see what you can do! And its of the bride and groom that they are celebrating with. WIN WIN!!
